Bringing the delight
of Arc to Android

Arc Search interface

Arc Search reimagines mobile browsing with AI-powered search and a beautiful, intuitive interface.

I led the design of Arc Search for Android, bringing the beloved Arc experience to a new platform while adapting to Android design patterns and user expectations.

Visual patterns for Android

To make Arc search blend seamlessly into the Android ecosystem, we reexamined every detail to make sure it made in an Android context. Visually, this meant leveraging arc's textures in replace of their brand gradients.

Visually also leaned more into using shapes to bring out the Arc branding through the UI.

Android-first interactions

Made sure that we made interactions felt Android-first. The original tab switcher replicated the layered app preview in iOS. However, Android devices typically use a horizontal scroll. Small changes like this helped the app feel more at home on your Android device.

We also leveraged Material Design, with a native carousel in our Browse for Me screens.

Brought to Beta users

Arc Search on Android was released to Beta users. I also worked on marketing assets such as animations and app store screenshots.

Fun note: the best part of the animated marketing graphics were that they were actual screen recordings from the app.
